ADOPTION PROCESS

Submitting a Puppy Application

  • Seen a puppy for sale, or a mama who’s expecting? Submit an puppy application and let us know which litter or litters interest you as well as all the things you want with color, coat, gender, size, temperament, etc.

  • We review all your information and will communicate with you about what you are looking for to ensure we understand your wishes and desires for a puppy completely.  All communication takes place via email so we have a paper trail of details to refer to later.  It is important to understand that due to needing to respond to 30-40 emails daily on top of our normal jobs and caring for family and dogs, we need to manage our time wisely and lengthy phone conversations are just not possible. Unless necessary, all questions will be responded to via email.

Placing a Deposit
  • A deposit is required to hold a puppy and is accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

  • A deposit is $1,000 and up, depending on the price of the puppy and is non-refundable (make sure that you DO want a puppy and don’t mind the wait before placing your deposit). It will go towards the purchase price of your puppy. We can add you to a waiting list, but deposits will only be accepted once the puppies are born. Deposits are transferable to a puppy from a different litter with advanced notice.

  • Deposits can be made by PayPal, Bank wire/wire transfer, Direct deposit (Chase Quickpay), Personal checks, Cashier's check, Postal Money Order, or Western Union. If mailing a check, email me and I will send you my mailing address. Your check needs to be made out to “Ryan Lin”. I will need your address, email address and phone number for my records (cell phone if you are planning to fly your puppy with my puppy nanny). As soon as I receive your deposit, I will send a confirmation email and mail you a puppy sales agreement and health contract, in which you must sign and mail back to us by the time the puppy is 6 weeks old.

  • Choices are made by the time puppies are 3 weeks old in the order of deposits received. I will keep the web site and you updated on the Mommy’s progress, birth, and new photos of the puppies every two weeks as they grow.

  • If the Buyer will be picking up the dog, the final payment may be made in cash only at the time of pick up.

  • If you are planning on flying your new puppy, the balance will be due when your pup is 6 weeks old, no exceptions, in either a lump sum or through payments received. ***PLEASE NOTE: we will NOT accept PayPal or personal checks for the final payment.***

  • Failure to comply with the above will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.

Choosing Your Puppy
  • Puppies will NOT leave our home before 9 weeks of age.

  • If shipping is needed, the date will be scheduled at the time the deposit is received and they will be sent to you between 9 and 10 weeks of age.

  • I keep my website current with news of expected litters and photos of the puppies every two weeks.

  • You can choose which pup that you want from the litter when they are born, but no later than 3 weeks of age. That way we can start planning on which puppies will be available to whom and setting up flights with my puppy nanny if need be. Folks will make their choices in the order of the deposits received of course.

  • ALL my puppies will be well socialized with many people, animals, other dogs of all sizes and ages, and have experienced MANY different environments by the time they are ready to come to you. I have never had a shy or poorly adjusted puppy here. And of course, you can always give me a call or email to ask questions about them. I am ALWAYS ready to brag on my babies. I can help you make your choice and select the best puppy to fit lifestyle. After all, I have been with these puppies every day of their lives. Be sure to read all about The Vanguard Way of Raising and Socializing Puppies.

  • PLEASE NOTE: VanGuard Frenchies reserves the right to select two puppies from every litter as potential breeding dogs for our program. Since our dogs are not career breeders and only have two or three litters, it is necessary for us to retain for the next generation of Vanguard French Bulldog puppies.

What Comes with Your Vanguard Frenchie?
  • My puppies have their natural dew claws. I have never in my life had a problem with a dog with dew claws.

  • My puppies are wormed at 4/6/8 weeks of age.

  • I feed my puppies Taste of the Wild Puppy Formulation in Salmon Flavor and I recommend that you continue them on it for the remainder of their life. If you want to switch to another brand, PLEASE use a top quality brand. See our Puppy Care page for recommendations on quality dog foods for your Frenchie.

  • At 6 weeks of age they receive their 1st set of puppy shots. At 9 weeks, they receive their 2nd vaccination as well. My vaccinations cover Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 1 (Hepatitis), Adenovirus Type 2 (Respiratory Disease), Parainfluenza, & Parvovirus.

Flying Your Puppy?
  • We have puppy nannies available to hand deliver your puppy to you for an additional $450-$550, depending on your location.

Coming Here to Pick Up Your New Puppy?
  • It is really better to travel with the puppy in a secure travel crate in case of an accident.

  • Have paper towels in case of car sickness or other mistakes. Moist baby wipes are also great to have on hand for quick clean ups.

  • A soft towel or baby blanket for your puppy to snuggle in.

  • A small bottle of water and a shallow bowl for drinking, in case your puppy gets thirsty.

  • Potty Pads: please do not put your puppy down on the ground in places like a gas station, rest stop, right outside a store, etc where MANY dogs have also used the bathroom in the same grass before you and your little puppy were there. Many dogs are not vaccinated and if there was a dog that had parvo even 4-5 years ago & used the bathroom in that spot, the Parvo may still infect your puppy & can be lethal to him/her. Your puppy is not protected against Parvo until all 3 or 4 vaccinations are complete, (at 6, 9, 12, & sometimes 16 weeks). You may think this advice sounds like “over-kill” but it is not. After you pup has been fully vaccinated you do not have worry about this kind of thing.
